LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Brian & Faye Foley

It is with tremendous excitement that we announce the recipients of the DLTC 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award! Hailing from Toronto, Brian and Faye Foley have left an enduring mark on the dance education world for over five decades. Their roles as teachers, studio owners, choreographers, and founders of the ADAPT syllabi, which is taught in classrooms across North America, have been transformative. Their Teacher’s Training School has certified over 1,200 dance teachers. On a personal note, I am honored to have known both Brian and Faye since I was seven years old. They have significantly influenced my passion for dance and dance education. I am just one of thousands who have been inspired by these two genuine dance masters! ~Rhee Gold

SPECIAL PRE-CON SESSION: Mental Wellness Dance Educator Certification

Kristin Deiss and Michelle Loucadoux of Danscend, will lead this mental wellness certification course. It demonstrates that educators and organizations provide a safe and supportive learning environment for dancers. It also highlights a commitment to promoting mental health awareness and addressing issues like resilience, mindset, and self-esteem. This course will help you feel more equipped to shape the minds of the young people in your classrooms.

It has been created using peer-reviewed scientific studies and under the guidance of a board of mental health professionals. The certification includes training on how to craft supportive feedback, create a safe and inclusive space, nourish dancers' community, encourage a growth mindset, and lead students by example.
