Michelle Soutier, a native of North Carolina and a graduate of UNC Charlotte, boasts an extensive background in the performing arts, education, and entrepreneurial success. Her journey in the dance industry began when she founded Miller Street Dance Academy in 1994, and nearly three decades later, she continues to lead a dedicated team of 53 faculty and administrators while opening her doors to over 2500 students across two locations.
Michelle’s influence extends beyond the studio as she has been a featured speaker at the DanceLife Teacher Conference for over a decade, generously sharing her secrets to success with fellow dance studio owners. As a founding member of the International Dance Entrepreneurs Association (I.D.E.A.), Michelle played a pivotal role in shaping the association’s core values and principles. Her expertise has reached global audiences through virtual seminars and courses offered by The Rhee Gold Company, earning rave reviews from participants worldwide. Michele has also been a respected speaker for esteemed organizations such as Dance Masters of America, Jackrabbit Dance, and many more.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Michelle maintains a deep commitment to community service. Her dedication to making a positive impact led to her induction into the ‘W.I.S.H. Society’ (Women Inspiring Strength and Hope) by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2015, recognizing her efforts in raising funds to fulfill the wishes of children battling life-threatening illnesses in the Charlotte area. Further demonstrating her humanitarian spirit, Michele received the Humanitarian Award from African Christians Fellowship International (ACFI) in 2016 for her unwavering support of ACFI’s mission to assist Liberian orphans. Presently, Michele serves as a National Ambassador for Dancers Against Cancer, an organization providing vital financial assistance to dancers, dance teachers, and choreographers facing the challenges of cancer diagnoses.
