We are a
ballet-based school, but also offer tap and jazz. Tap is
taught starting at age 5. Classes for age 2 (“Mommy and Me”)
are 30 minutes; classes for 3-4 year olds are 45 minutes; classes
for 5-6 year olds are 60 minutes and include ballet and tap; 7-9
year old classes are 90 minutes; performing company meets twice a
week for two hours each class. We also have 60 minute adult classes.
--Jenny Griffes,
University City YMCA Dance, Charlotte, NC
The only
combination class I offer is a 30 minute class for 5-6 year olds in
ballet, tap, and jazz. This gives them a chance to "sample" the
different styles and then when they are 7 they have a better idea
which one(s) they want to stay with.
--Suzanne
Goodman, Easley Dance Conservatory, Easley, SC
Combination
classes, which are 60 minutes long, are offered for children ages
3-10, or up to a certain level. Classes consist of pre-school
ballet/tap and ballet/tap level 1, 2, 3. After level 3
students move into strictly 60 minutes of ballet, tap, jazz, or
modern. This keeps students longer and gives dancers a chance
to decide what style of dance they like.
--Sarita Zuniga,
Sarita's Dance Studio, San Antonio, TX
We offer
FUNdamentals class – 4-5 year olds, 60 minutes of ballet, jazz, and
tumbling;
6 year olds (and some 7 year olds), 90 minutes of ballet, jazz,
tumbling, and tap.
--Justine Coulon,
Jayde Howard's Dance Legacy, Bradenton, FL
We
offer kinder-fitness and dance for ages 18 months to 3 years.
This program is held in the mornings and parents are welcome to join
in. We have all the equipment to set up the room like Gymboree®,
but we incorporate more music than many other programs.
--AnneMarie
McVicar, Dance Explosion, Dedham, MA
We offer a ballet/tap combination class for students ages
4-9. They take 30 minutes of ballet and 30 minutes of tap.
When they are around 8-9, they then go to two days a week with
longer classes of ballet, tap, and jazz.
--Rebecca
Morgan, Olney Studio of Dance, Olney, MD
I only offer combination classes for pre-school children
ages 3-5. We call it "Creative Dance" and have a 40 minute
class combining ballet and tumbling. The students only need
one pair of ballet shoes, and do not have to switch shoes during
class.
--Jan
Sickle-Witte, Jan's Dance Connection, Dearborn Heights & Brooklyn,
MI
We offer combination classes for ages 3-7. The first
3 years are all-encompassing (creative movement, ballet, tumbling,
tap, singing).
--Wendy
Holmquist, Dance Dynamics Studio, Thunder Bay, Ontario
My preschool classes are 45 minute combo classes of ballet
and tap. My kindergarten and first grade classes are 60
minutes of ballet and tap. This is their only option and
allows the students to experience both ballet and tap before they
are 7 and allowed to start jazz. This insures that they love
ballet and tap and will not give it up when it is time for jazz!
--Millie
Landers, Columbia Dance Academy, Columbia, TN
My 3-4 year olds take a 45 minute class once a week that
includes creative movement and tap. I offer a "transitional"
class for students age 5-7. This class is 60 minutes and
includes 20 minutes each of an introduction to tap, ballet, and
jazz. I also offer combination tap/jazz classes (30 minutes of
each) for my recreational students. Ballet is always taught
separately.
--Pam Rowden,
Starlight Dance Studio, Scottsburg, IN
Combos start at age 4. We offer ballet/tap, ballet/jazz
and ballet/modern combos for younger dancers. After age 8, we offer
single style but everything is 60 minutes.
--Nancy Solomon,
Studio B Dance Center, Eastchester, NY
We
offer a 45 minute class for 4 year olds (creative dance/tap); a 60
minute class for kindergartners (ballet/tap); and a 75 minute class
for first graders (ballet/tap/jazz).
--Kristin Davis,
Kicks School of Dance, Glen Mills, PA
Our Kindercombo
class is ballet/tap/tumbling for 60 minutes, and our first grade
combo is ballet/tap/jazz/tumbling for 2 hours.
--Anita Nangle,
Dancenter, Streator, IL
Our students range in age from 2-8. We offer a 30 minutes ballet/tap
(very creative movement based) class for 2-3 year olds.
This gives them an introduction to dance. We also offer
ballet/tap classes for our 3-4 and 4-5 year olds. The 3-4 year olds
still have a creative
movement based class. Both age categories have a 45 minute
class session. Our 5-6 and 7- 8 year olds have a 60 minute
class that is primarily ballet and tap. These classes get them
ready for the individual classes we offer.
--Lisa Yarwood, Lisa's School of Dance, Bartlett, IL
I only offer
combo classes for the young student – creative movement for 3 year
olds which includes toddler songs with movement; and a very beginner
intro to ballet and tap. The next level, pre-school ages 4-5
is a 60 minute class with a ballet, tap, and jazz combo. In
grade 1 all classes are individual in their respective disciplines,
and range from 30 minute classes to 45 or 60 minute classes by the
age of 10.
