Small Victories

What motivates a teacher to do her best, consistently, year after year? All teachers have to go into the studio when they are tired, don’t feel well, or have other issues on their minds. I find, after owning a studio for more than 26 years, that the inspiration to teach consistently at my best comes in many forms. I find that the greatest inspiration usually comes from my own dancers.

Transcending Trend

I live in Los Angeles, where trendiness is next to godliness. In a town that serves up 20 versions of the same sitcom and 40 clones of the same “reality” show, artists are paid handsomely to squelch their creativity.

 A Really Nice Letter

My personal life was causing a lot of stress, my studio had grown (mixed blessing!) to where I felt like nothing was being done properly but I was just keeping up, and I couldn’t figure out what direction to take to alleviate the burn-out.

The Steps That Led To Success

  Our Readers Want Your Advice

I have a group of 15 dancers who have been together for the past 5 years.  At this point, their abilities are not at the same level.  I know I need to split these 15 dancers into two groups.  The problem is that I'm very nervous about the reaction from my students and their parents.
