Edge Premiers Feldenkrais Method

New
website serves as a resource for web-based training

Kinesthetic Edge is the advantage
you gain when you train your kinesthetic intelligence. It is
also the name of a new website (www.kinestheticedge.com)
where you can download Feldenkrais programs that are designed to
help you move better and feel better while pursuing activities that
you love. The website was launched by Andrea Higgins, a Feldenkrais
Practitioner and former professional ballet dancer, who first
discovered the Feldenkrais Method while recovering from a knee
injury.
It is not unusual for dancers to
seek out Feldenkrais training when traditional forms of physical
therapy do not adequately resolve injury or chronic pain issues. But
Higgins, who was then pursuing a graduate degree in dance, saw
potential for Feldenkrais to be integrated with traditional forms of
training in dance and sports, to help reduce the chance of injury in
the first place – not just through strengthening and stretching, but
by training the kinesthetic intelligence, which is the ability of
the body and mind to learn through movement. When your kinesthetic
IQ is high, you move more efficiently, your alignment
improves and chronic pain brought on by bad posture or unhealthy
movement habits subsides. You look better, you feel better, and on
the most basic level of functioning and survival, you perform
better.
Higgins’ latest program, Body
Knowledge, is now available on the Kinesthetic Edge website. The
program includes three thirty-minute lessons that introduce basic
lesson structures and learning strategies of the Feldenkrais Method.
You can download and listen to the lessons on your computer using
Windows Media Player or iTunes, and you can even burn the program to
compact disc or an MP3 player to take with you to the dance studio.
The cost of the program is $15. For further information go to
www.kinestheticedge.com or call 508-446-5538.
